about

This piece is based on a game of bingo recorded with Askeaton Contemporary Arts during a residency in 2008 and revisited in 2013. With local community help, McLoughlin organised a game of bingo for one night only in the Community Hall.

This was the first game of bingo in Askeaton in over 25 years. The last time it had been played it was to fundraise for a swimming pool. Over two hundred people attended.

Since the event, a revival occured and bingo has been held once a month in the town, thanks to Michael's foresight.

This soundwork formed part of an installation of the same name in Limerick City Gallery of Art in 2008. It has also toured swimming pools in UK, Norway, Sweden and Finland in 2009 & 2010

William Calling is a treatment of these initial recordings remixed and released in 2013
